Merely swiping the Lock Screen can bring the Focus mode up.įocus mode cuts out the clutter, making apps display only the content relevant to the user’s needs. The Focus mode was introduced in iOS 15 and it’ll get an upgraded look in iOS 16.įocus can now be connected to the Lock Screen, allowing users to set both the Lock Screen and the widgets to a particular focus of their ease. This not only helps users get an uninterrupted view of their Lock Screen but also makes it easy to handle them with one hand.Īpple iOS 16 also brings Live Activities, which features events such as matches, ride-share, or incoming food delivery in real time on the Lock Screen. Instead of the top of the screen, notifications emerge from the bottom with this new iOS update. Users can customise their own Lock Screen accordingly you’ll be able to swipe to switch between Lock Screens too.Ī significant update is how notifications appear. There is also an Astronomy wallpaper and a Weather wallpaper that show the solar system and live weather conditions respectively throughout the day. The collections help celebrate important cultural moments such as Pride and Unity. The Apple iOS 16 update also brings a range of curated galleries from Apple collections for the Lock Screen. Apple says that new widgets are inspired by the Apple Watch complications, making it easier for users to get the necessary information they seek. Widgets, such as weather notifications, calendar events, time zones and ring progress can be added to the Lock Screen as well. You’ll get several different styles here, including a double-lined one and in an array of colours. Photos on the Lock Screen can be set in front of the clock, giving an impression of depth, and the look of the date and time can be changed too. One of the biggest update this year is the Lock Screen thanks to iOS 16, you’ll get to choose from an array of unique effects that make pictures and widgets more beautiful and accessible. Here are the key features of Apple iOS 16 Widgets and photo impressions on Lock Screen Other than iOS 16, Apple also announced the new Apple M2 chip, all-new MacBook Air with a new M2 chip, a macOS Ventura update, and the watchOS 9. A public beta will be available in July, before which developer previews will be provided. The software update to iOS 16 will be available for iPhone 8 and newer devices later in 2022. During the conference, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, said, “iOS 16 is a big release with updates that will change the way you experience the iPhone.” Many of you asked the one question that did have me a bit bothered: How to do backups of a Gmail account? These main methods attach themselves to window.requestAnimationFrame(), which asks the browser for control over the upcoming frame. The above sections describe main loops which try not to wrestle away control from the browser. Ultimately, in JavaScript, the browser is running its own main loop and your code exists in some of its stages. Building a better main loop in JavaScript There are a lot of them and they will make your life easier. Simple animations can be easily performed, even GPU-accelerated, with CSS animations and other tools included in the browser. You cannot really get more smooth and responsive than that.īut do not immediately assume animations require frame-by-frame control. A First-Person Shooter (or a similar game) presents a new scene once every frame. It is also very simple because main() is the only function getting looped. You are given control over each frame of animation. Timing the main loop to when the browser paints to the display allows you to run your loop as frequently as the browser wants to paint. Before we discuss ways to change it, let us discuss what it already does well. Because main() is called once in the second statement and every call of it places itself in the queue of things to do next frame, main() is synchronized to your frame rate. The second statement calls the main() function, defined in the first statement. This function does some work and also tells the browser to call itself next frame with window.requestAnimationFrame(). The first statement creates a function as a global variable called main(). The above chunk of code has two statements. Calling the next requestAnimationFrame early ensures the browser receives it on time to plan accordingly even if your current frame misses its VSync window. That is not by accident and it is considered best practice. Note: In each of the main() methods discussed here, we schedule a new requestAnimationFrame before performing our loop contents. If something looks like it should be attached to a more infrequent event then it is often a good idea to break it out of the main loop (but not always). Of course, your game will only be as optimized as you make it. Modern JavaScript - as described in the next sections - thankfully makes it easy to develop an efficient, execute-once-per-frame main loop. It might even loop based on something else entirely. It might require both input and simulated time. Your game loop might be similar to the find the differences example and base itself on input events. If your game loops based on time then this will be its authority that your simulations will adhere to.īut it might not need per-frame control. This once-per-frame model is implemented in something called a main loop. The same principles as above apply with a slight twist: each frame of animation progresses the cycle and any change in user input is caught at the first available turn. Other games demand control over each of the smallest possible individual timeslices. This is more of a turn-based approach that doesn't demand a constant update every frame, only when the player reacts. The game loop is advanced by the user's input and sleeps until they provide it. finally, they calculate an updated scene resulting from that input. These games present two images to the user they accept their click (or touch) they interpret the input as a success, failure, pause, menu interaction, etc. Imagine that you are developing a "find the differences between these two similar pictures"-type game. Some games drive this cycle by user input. Not surprisingly, this pattern corresponds to how a game engine is programmed. Games are constantly looping through these stages, over and over, until some end condition occurs (such as winning, losing, or exiting to go to bed). The goal of every video game is to present the user(s) with a situation, accept their input, interpret those signals into actions, and calculate a new situation resulting from those acts. With the help of her boyfriend Ben ( Matt Shively), Alex sets up the family's home video cameras and laptops to record Robbie's late-night wanderings and vaguely sinister activities around the house. Other family members also begin to clue into the strange goings-on, with mysterious sounds, shifting furniture and alarmingly animated household objects suggesting something is seriously amiss. Alex soon begins to notice strange events coincident with Robbie's arrival, while the young visitor's insinuations increasingly draw Wyatt away from her. Teenager Alex ( Kathryn Newton), her 6-year-old brother Wyatt (Aiden Lovekamp) and their parents ( Stephen Dunham and Alexondra Lee) live a typical middle-class suburban life, even if they think their neighbors across the street - single mother Katie and her young son Robbie ( Brady Allen) - are a bit of an odd pair.Īfter Katie is unexpectedly and mysteriously admitted to the hospital for some unknown illness, Alex's mom inexplicably offers to take Robbie in while his mother is recovering. Quickly recapping with flashbacks and documentary-style introductory cards the conclusion of "Paranormal Activity 2," when in a prequel to 2007's original film Katie ( Katie Featherston) killed her sister Kristi (Sprague Grayden) and abducted her nephew Hunter (William Juan Prieto), the current version jumps ahead to 2011, relocating the action from California to Nevada and introducing an entirely new family. ★★★★ Excellent ★★★ Good ★★ Fair ★ Poor See More Collapse Rated: R for language and some violence/terror Adult Maine Coons - which are known to be one of the larger cat breeds - average 15 lbs. For example, there can be a significant different between an adult Maine Coon and an adult American Shorthair. To get an idea of the weight range for your tortoiseshell cat, you’ll need to know their breed. Unfortunately, this chromosome imbalance will also make any male torties sterile. If a male tortie does happen to be born, it’s likely because they have an extra strand of DNA with an additional X chromosome. Just like humans, female cats have two X chromosomes and males have an X and a Y chromosome. Two X chromosomes are required to produce the signature tortoiseshell coat colors and patterns. The reason for this comes down to chromosomes. The majority of torties - 99.6% - are female, making males incredibly rare. One notable biological trait of tortoiseshell cats is their gender. DOWNLOAD OUR 8 FACTS ABOUT TORTOISESHELL CATS GUIDE If you’re curious about your kitty’s genetic disposition, you can research their specific breed to find out if there are any associated health concerns. It bears repeating that tortoiseshell cats are not a breed, and there are no health conditions that are connected to the color of their fur. Basepaws says that “the genetic link between eye color and coat color is actually minimal,” so your tortie’s coat color palette won’t define their eye color. Tortoiseshells can have eye colors that are various shades of hazel, amber or green, but there isn’t one specific color that is associated with these cats. This usually manifests as a half black face and half ginger face, but it can occur all over the body in different colors. There are also tortoiseshell cats with tabby stripes, known as “torbies.” Torties can have a chimera appearance, which is one color on one side of the body and a different color on the other side. Calicos, on the other hand, have a white fur base that’s topped off with tortie-colored patches.Ī tortie’s color palette can either be patched or brindled, which is when the colors are mixed together. Tortoiseshells come in all different colors and patterns, but they are primarily ginger and black which touches of white, orange, gold or cream. Many people mistake tortoiseshell cats with calico cats because of their similar coat colors. If you come across a tortie, they’re likely to be one of these popular breeds: DOWNLOAD OUR 8 FACTS ABOUT TORTOISESHELL CATS GUIDE AppearanceĪs we mentioned, tortoiseshell cats are not a breed - the name is used to describe their coat color and pattern. In the U.S., that luck has translated into a special nickname: “money cats.” If you’re in Japan, it’s believed that torties can protect your home from ghosts. In Scotland and Ireland, tortoiseshell cats are still considered to be good luck, especially if one settles in your home. Variations of those beliefs are still with us today. An old English wives’ tale believes that rubbing the tail of a tortoiseshell cat onto a wart is an effective treatment option. Folklore from the Khmers of Southeast Asia states that tortoiseshell cats originated from the blood of a young goddess, and the ancient Celts believed that torties brought good luck. Stories of tortoiseshell cats date back to ancient times. Although tortoiseshell isn’t a breed, these cats - sometimes nicknamed “torties” - have a signature appearance, a rich history and distinctive personality traits. Tortoiseshell cats are known for their beautiful multi-colored coats that resemble the shell of a tortoise. The right DRUJ was found to be stable from 30° supination to 10° pronation while the left DRUJ was found to be stable from 40° supination to 15° pronation beyond which there was a tendency to dislocate. Stability of the DRUJ was assessed fluoroscopically. Open reduction and internal fixation of right radial fracture with seven hole LC-DCP (limited contact dynamic compression plate) and left radial fracture with seven hole DCP (dynamic compression plate) and was achieved by Henry's approach. Findings were correlated radiographically and a diagnosis of bilateral Galeazzi fracture dislocation was established and. There was no distal neurovascular deficit. Ulnar heads were found to have dislocated dorsally bilaterally. On examination, bilateral forearms were found to be deformed at middle third and distal one-third junction with swelling, tenderness, and instability of bilateral wrists. The patient complained of severe pain and deformity in his wrists and forearms bilaterally. Clinically injury to head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and lower limbs were ruled out. Here, we report a case of early rehabilitation in bilateral Galeazzi fracture dislocation where both DRUJ were unstable after fixation of radius but transfixing K wires provided the required stability needed for early mobilization that hastened his occupational rehabilitation.Ī 36-years-old man, horse trainer by occupation presented to the orthopedics emergency department with a history of fall on outstretched hands with forearm in pronation while riding a horse. To avoid these consequences, early commencement of rehabilitation is necessary but for that the DRUJ must be stable after radial fixation. , Operative treatment followed by conventional immobilization of 6-8 weeks is usually followed by good outcome, but it takes nearly 1 year for occupational rehabilitation and most cases are associated with restricted terminal range of motion. Galeazzi fracture dislocations represent 3-4% of forearm fractures and bilateral Galeazzi fracture dislocations are rare. Because of the poor results of nonoperative treatment, this injury has been referred to as a "fracture of necessity" in adults. The Galeazzi fracture is a fracture of the middle to distal third of the radius associated with dislocation and/or instability of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ).
